Department: Manufacturing 

Reports To: Manufacturing Supervisor

Summary: Responsible for operating machine shop equipment including punch press and press break machines in the manufacturing process. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs typical machine shop processes for punch presses and press brake operations

  • Detects and reports defective materials and quality control issues to the department supervisor

  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations

  • Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the assigned tasks 

  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set up 

  • Follow company's safety policies and procedures 

  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Prior Experience as a machine operator preferred

  • Knowledge of basic math, basic to intermediate computer knowledge and skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work effecctively with co-workers, supervisors and staff 

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Able to adapt to changing work needs and expectations

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Physical Demands: 

Hearing, speaking, seeing, walking, reading, writing, lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching with hands and arms to use fingers to handle objects and operated equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand for a prolonged period, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may occasionally be required to sit. 

Working conditions:

Manufacturing working environment, Temperatures will range from 50  to 85 degrees. The noise level is usually loud and ear protection may be required.
